"Monument"al Trip ...
Caroline leaves at 5:15 in the morning for the airport. She is going on her middle school’s 8th grade trip to Washington, DC. I am equal parts excited and nervous about her getting on an airplane and flying to our nation’s capital. Bill is taking her since I’m not a fan of early mornings and “on time arrivals” at the airport are not my strong suit.
Tonight I gave her a cool wrap around bracelet and told her that although she wasn’t traveling with her family I wanted her to remember our love “wrapped” around her.
She looked at me like I was nuts and said … “that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.”
It was hilarious.
Really it was.
Because she put it on and hasn’t taken it off.
So loosely translated I think she meant “I like it.”
Or maybe “thanks”.
Who knows … I am no longer fluent in that language.
Bill and I are so excited for her to see all the history in Washington, DC.
First up on their tour itinerary … the Lincoln Memorial.
Otherwise known as the place Bill and I got engaged over TWENTY years ago. I’ll tell you the story sometime … it’s a good one.
Bill told Caroline to point out to all her friends exactly where we got engaged. She kind of acted like she thought that was stupid too.
Main thing to remember is to have fun Caroline!
Stick with the group, take lots of pictures … and last thing …
don’t forget what I told you about the bracelet.
